Glasser – Crux

The avant-garde electronic project Glasser, spearheaded by singer-songwriter Cameron Mesirow, marked a major milestone with the release of Crux (Deluxe), through One Little Independent Records. This 2024 deluxe edition, released today, represents the expanded version of her third studio album, Crux, which originally debuted on October 6, 2023. The project ended a ten-year recording hiatus following her critically acclaimed sophomore album, Interiors, which was released in 2013.

Stylistically, Glasser is recognized for blending dreamy, atmospheric synth-pop with layered electronic programming and intricate vocal arrangements. For the Crux era, Mesirow integrated traditional Celtic folk melodies and Eastern European vocal styles—inspired by her intensive studies in Balkan singing—creating a fluid, wave-like production that differs from the geometric precision of her earlier catalog.

Thematically, the album acts as a vulnerable space for self-reflection, directly addressing personal loss, particularly the sudden death of Mesirow’s childhood friend and first love, Noah. The 2024 deluxe edition enriches this emotional landscape by appending seven previously unreleased tracks, including “Om” and “Dying Light” which explore grief, recovery, and the therapeutic role of creative writing.
